Augusts’ birthstone, Peridot, claims to have magical powers and healing qualities to protect against nightmares. Peridots are formed deep within the earth and brought to the surface by volcanoes in Hawaii. Today most of the peridot supply comes from Arizona.

Peridots can range from a yellow-green to brown but are most popular in the lime and olive green shades.
